A very rare sighting of the Iratus Zingiber

Years ago, the Iratus Zingiber was often seen in South Croydon, frequenting Whitgift pool, the Amer Rani Indian Restaurant and the Crown and Sceptre pub, but in recent years sightings have fallen massively, primarily due to a destruction of its natural habitat, crap polo and Ironmen. However, the 19th of November saw a very rare sighting of the Zingiber at Whitgift pool. The occasion was an alleged waterpolo game between South London's Finest (TM) and Eastern Otter. The week started as any other usual polo week with a confirmed 4 for the game, rising to 6 by the morning of the game. With the Magister Exploratorum hoping to migrate in time down from London for the start of the game we had a shakey 7. In our hour of need came the Iratus Zingiber, no announcement, no fanfair, but there he was, poolside, with the unmistakable swagger of something that knows its rarity. In conjunction with this there was also a sighting of Exhibitio Armorum who is also very rarely seen in South Croydon these days. Bouyed by these ornithologists delights we started the game strongly, shockingly taking a two goal lead before muscle memory kicked in and we conceded a quick two goals in response. However, Zingiberis made of sterner stuff and scored a couple of his own to close out the quarter with the Narwhals 5 - 4 up. The second quarter saw the Narwhals begin to pull away with goals from Messers Shute and Finch and a 'tight' defence taking us to a healthy 9 - 6 lead at half time. Our superior fitness and polo skills began to show in the second half (hahahahaha but yes, really) with the Narwhals winning both the third and fourth quarters 6 - 2 to take the final score to 21 - 10 to the Narwhals. The Iratus Zingiber ended the game with 5 goals but was outscored by both Shute and Finch who both bagged 6 each.

Man of the Match - M Finch for 6 goals and some swimming (sic....) and honourable mention to the Zingiber who got a vote just for rocking up

Moment of the Match - G Adam for another 1 on 1 save that he had no right to make

Fluffer - Exhibitio Armorum who despite being given at least three clear opportunities to score on his return, spurned each one!

Messers Bowen, Gamble and the above mentioned Armorum have all gone on an ornithologists  package tour to Portugal to seek out the Cyanopica Cyanus
